Biography
The National Geographic Society was formed in 1888 to “increase and diffuse geographic knowledge.” The society funds research and exploration expeditions and education initiatives. It has published the monthly National Geographic Magazine continuously since 1888, and now also produces television documentaries and maintains an active online presence.
