Biography
Charles Francis Hall, born in 1821 in Rochester, NH, made his first Arctic trip to Baffin Island. He also went on expeditoins to Frobisher Bay, Repulse Bay, Igloolik, and King William Sound. He lived among the Inuit from 1860-62 and 1864-69. In 1871 he commanded the Polaris in an attempt to reach the North Pole. He reached the northern most latitude for all the expeditions during that time but he died on the voyage home.
