A memorial was erected to Ross Marvin, the only person on the last two Peary expeditions to die. First reports were that he had drowned after breaking through thin ice. Many years later, the Inughuit men with him confessed they had killed him in a dispute. This is now widely accepted, although Donald MacMillan argued against it.
