This daguerrotype portrait in a leather case with brass mat and gilt frame is believed to show Robert E. Peary's parents, Charles Nutter Peary and Mary Webster Wiley Peary, who married about 1854. It was identified as "Grandmother and Grandfather Peary," probably by Robert's daughter Marie Peary.
