When they returned to New York from the Far North, the SS ROOSEVELT and her crew were invited to sail up the Hudson River to Newburg, NY, as part of the Hudson-Fulton Parade celebrating the maritime achievements of Henry Hudson and Robert Fulton. They were given the offical commemorative medal of the celebration, embossed with images and the words "Discovery of Hudson River by Henry Hudson / A.D. MDCIX Halve Maene" on one side, and "First use of Steam in Navigation on the Hudson River - 1807."
