A comic-book style or graphic biography of Matthew Henson was published in 1969 as part of the Golden Legacy Illustrated History Magazine. A series of such books focusing on black history emerged from the 1960s Civil Rights movement, as did renewed interest in Henson's accomplishments as an explorer.
